Many QR codes that appear to be free actually redirect via an intermediary.  If you don't pay, your QR code will be blocked. Use your phone to scan your QR code - if it doesn't show the actual URL of the destination, then you will (potentially) be held to ransom.

The QR code tool here will produce a fully free to use, lifetime, QR code, only encoding your URL.  I did this for myself, and for others to solve a simple problem.
